Why You Need To Build An Email List For Your Business To Survive Online

With social media ever changing - building an email list is needed in today’s world is needed more than ever!


Especially if you’re running Facebook ads and have seen some information around the new Apple device changes coming…


Having your own email list is crucial.


Inside this post, I'm going to share some of the main benefits to needing an email list and why it's needed to survive online and also how you can get started.

1. You Don’t Own Your Social Media Accounts



Whilst you can build an incredibly successful business with social media alone, it comes with it’s exposure.


Because here’s the thing…


You don’t have control over the platforms.


I’ve seen friends be locked out of their accounts.


Had their Ad accounts shut down.


Lost access to their pages.


Let me ask you this…


If Facebook turned around and closed your profile or business account tomorrow - how would that impact your business?


For many, it’s a bit of a scary thought.


Your network… GONE.


Your groups… GONE


Your audience… GONE


So to give yourself some protection from the ever changing world of social media… and having control over the most important asset you will own…


Your email list.


Because building a list of interested leads and people who want to hear from you and know more about what you do and offer…


Is quite frankly the safest way for your business to sustain and survive online.


Nobody can take away your email list from you.


You can back it up and take it with you wherever you go!


And always have a list of people to follow up with, contact and make offers to to continue our revenue coming in.


If you’re serious about creating a personal brand and not leaving it up to someone else with how much you’re seen… consider getting started with building an email list.


2. Stop the Chase and Attract Instead



If you hate active prospecting and reaching out to people in Messenger, or adding ‘Friends’ to your Facebook profile…


Or feeling rejected, being ignored and maybe even unfriended and blocked because you’ve spammed your wall!


Instead… have people come to you.


For example - have someone raise their hand with interest telling you they want to know more about what you do or what you’re promoting.


It makes having conversations with people or needing to close a sale, way more enjoyable, easy and effective.


Introverted people usually love Attraction Marketing because like me, they hate being the person to go out to others and make the first move in a conversations.


So by attracting them to you through your content and there are many ways to do this, but it then means you can provide them with value in exchange for their email and then you now have a list of people who you know are interested in learning more and you can then make relevant offers.


3. Leverage your Time For a Global Audience



I am all about leveraging my time.


When I worked full time, it could be really difficult to finish conversations with people in different time zones. Especially in America, Canada or Australia.


The delay in back and forth messages waiting for them to be able to reply and vice versa - meant a lot of waiting and sometimes forgetting where we were and then it fizzled out and I lost them.


Creating an email list and having people come to you and put themselves on your list - was a game changer for me.


It made working full time, building my business on the side and being able to have a system that could bring me daily leads and make sales for me every week while I slept, worked my job or just not available work for both me and more importantly, the other person.


Here’s the thing… they want information NOW… with automating your follow up means they don’t have to wait.


They can get their info and learn more about you, what you do, what you stand for, and get a promotion to take them to the next step on autopilot.


Allowing you to have a business and marketing strategy that works for you around the clock.


Aren’t we all looking for that freedom?


How will you get it if you’re always working or if your business stops when you do?


My challenge to you is for you to look at what you’re doing online with your marketing and are you able to grow your audience of leads and customers even if you take a holiday?


If not - then this is for you!


Ask yourself - how might you be able to leverage your time?


Look at your process of communicating with people and package it up into an automated flow using an email series.


Bingo!


One less thing to do!


This means you can take a holiday and enjoy yourself and the break.


It means if you’re sick, it’s ok, things continue.


If you want to spend more time with your kids than working on your phone, you can without the guilt.


One thing that I sometimes get asked when it comes to automating some things.


“Doesn’t it take away the human element?”


And the answer is no.


If you utilise video, then it’s the fastest way to get to know someone and you can utilise things you like to do now, and make it more automated.


So think about how you might be able to bring more of you into your follow up series that keeps that.

Most common is some sort of lead magnet.


This might be:-

  • Free Call
  • Webinar
  • Challenge
  • Quiz
